I had a Maxillectomy... one year ago today!

Today is a very special day for me, it marks the one year anniversary of my operation to get rid of cancer. I'm not celebrating having a Maxillectomy, I am celebrating being one year in remission, one year ago my cancer was taken out and thrown into a bucket.

The year has gone quickly really, when I look back I can't believe it has flown by - it seems like we have been through so much, and January, February, March and April 2012 were pretty bad months, I would of thought the year would have been a drag, but it wasn't, it went quickly and here we are. If only I knew then what I know now, it would of been a little easier.

Two major things learnt this last 12 months:

1. Family are too important - easy to forget that, easy to take for granted - note to self, don't let this happen again!

2. I had cancer and survived, the smaller insignificant things in life that cause us so much stress, are they really worth getting so uptight about? Note to self, relax, go with the flow and don't worry about the little things - they take care of themselves!

I'm taking my family out today for Sunday dinner as a quiet celebration - I'll raise a glass to myself and my family and I'll raise a glass to you as well!

Heres to the next cancer free year!
